About US

The Youth National Volleyball Association (YNVA) is incorporated in the state of Texas as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization under the Internal Revenue Code. The YNVA is qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under section 2055, 2016 or 2522 of the Internal Revenue Code.

The YNVA has assembled an impressive group of leaders to become members of the Board of Directors.  The Board of Directors governs the affairs of the Youth National Volleyball Association. (See the Founders/Board/Staff page for biographies)

Founders of the (YNVA) Jerritt Elliott, University of Texas Head Women’s Volleyball Coach and Sarah Silvernail Elliott, a two time AVCA Division One All American, USA National Team Player and Professional VB player, announced that they are taking their Austin, Texas based non-profit youth volleyball program nationally.

The first YNVA program was found in 2008 to serve a population of young girls in grades 4 through 6 who were not previously being served.  The program met with such success that the program has now expanded to both girls and boys in grades 3-7.

Young children participate once a week for two hours in a six-week outdoor grass court volleyball program.  Six weeks of skill training and match play.  In the future the YNVA plans to add tournament play. Children are provided with the opportunity to actively play the game of volleyball and learn from some of the best coaches in the nation.

The organization is attracting head university and high school coaches to the program.  Coach Elliott said, “Participating in our YNVA program is a real benefit to children wishing to learn at an early age and who aspire to play later for an elite volleyball team and/or perhaps for a major university."

The YNVA Objective is to build positive character, and enrich the lives and health of youth through the promotion of Youth Volleyball.  The YNVA Mission is to put into practice the core values of integrity, teamwork, respect, caring, discipline, accountability and fair play.

Coaches/Site Directors, teach basic skills and team play to the young participants,  volunteer coaches, and parents.  Site Directors also teach parents how to provide quality volleyball instructions to their children.

All children participate in every game and the YNVA expresses this in a catchy Motto.  “Every Kid Digs It – Passes, Serves, Sets, Digs, & Spikes!”  The YNVA also has a captivating nickname of SpikeGuyz and VolleyGirlz for the young boy and girl players.

The Board of Director named Mel Elliott the President/CEO of the Youth National Volleyball Association.  Mel retired December 08, as the YMCA of Greater St. Louis Vice President of Operations.  The  YMCA of Greater St. Louis has an annual budget of fifty-eight million and a twenty-branch operation.  During his career as a YMCA Executive, Mel was known for developing boys and girls sport programs that later became a model for the YMCA National, “Y Winners”, youth sports program.

The YNVA will be in the following states for September, 2010 for a six week program.

  • California
  • Texas

The YNVA has developed a plan to role out its program to most States in the Nation within the next two to four years. Volleyball Camps will be offered in the summer of 2011.
